Our Mission Statement:

The ACM chapter at University of Virginia's College at Wise is dedicated to furthering computer knowledge to the students of the University of Virginia's College at Wise and to the community of southwest Virginia. This chapter will assist students with various computer related interests to further their knowledge in their chosen field, while also providing assistance to non-Computer Science and Software Engineer students. This chapter will also branch out into the community to generate interest in the field of computers and to improve computer literacy as a whole.

Meetings:

We meet every Thursday at 3:30pm in Darden 232. Our meetings usually consist of official business (organizing events or projects), having very interesting guest speakers, or exploration into topics of the group's choosing. We have had UVA-Wise MCS professors, accomplished persons, and students speak about everything from writing better code to thinking about graduate school.

Membership:

Feel free to come to meetings. Participation is the only requirement to be a member of the campus organization. Even if you are not sure if you want to come to all the meetings, try to invite other people who might be interested. You do not by any means have to be a programmer, MCS student, or even have any computer experience to derive benefits from participating in the ACM. All that is required to enjoy this club is a thirst for knowledge of electrical technology.

Note: Membership in the student organization is free for everyone. Students may, however, wish to get an ACM membership. At least three of the five officers are required to be members of the ACM.
